First graders in Lubbock receive free dental health kits

In an effort to recognize National Children’s Dental Health Month, a group of first graders from Wright Elementary in Lubbock received free dental health and tooth decay prevention kits, Everything Lubbock reported on February 4.

The kits were assembled and delivered by both the local Masonic Lodge and members of the School of Texas’ Fantastic Teeth Fan Club. The Fantastic Teeth Fan Club, which predicts it will serve over 6,000 first graders this year, aims to cut missed school days due to toothaches by improving children’s dental health.

In each kit was a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, a healthy teeth sticker, and a two-minute timer, as well as some information in English and Spanish for parents, and a chart to track tooth brushing everyday. The kits are intended to make brushing teeth more fun for kids, who notoriously don’t perform this essential function well on a regular basis.
