February is National Children’s Dental Month
Every February, the American Dental Association sponsors National Children’s Dental Month in an effort to teach children about proper oral hygiene and mouth maintenance. The ADA believes that getting kids knowledgable about and interested in oral hygiene from a young age will promote healthy oral habits over the course of a lifetime.
This year’s theme is “Defeat Monster Mouth.” The “monster” is a plaque monster, and the way kids can fight him off and “defeat” him is by engaging in healthy oral habits, like brushing regularly, flossing daily, and using mouth rinse to target plaque. Additionally, the ADA wants kids to get involved and provides fun activity sheets and fun facts on its website. Kids can learn much more about oral health by visiting the site and clicking around.
The ADA encourages education among children that can be administered by teachers, dentists, and even parents. Leander dentist Dr. Sid K. Steadman D.D.S. believes in safe and thorough oral health, and provides each patient with quality dental services. We even have a special pediatric dentistry focus that’s perfect for your children.
